Almost as tall

I must have been 5 or 6 years old. Seeing my mother in the room, I thought that I was almost as tall as her as I couldn't crawl under the small living room table. I ran to her and found myself only reaching the level of her hip! That left me puzzled and wondering what went wrong :-)
